7 Smartphones Expected to Take the Tech World By Storm in 2023

It’s 2023 which means that we’re gearing up for a whole new series of exciting new handsets to flood the market. Along with advances in processing power, to fuel multi-tasking and AI activities, greater camera power is again a focus. And if you’re the type who likes more screen real estate? You’ll be wanting to explore the latest in fold and flip variety phones.

Dive into the latest and greatest in upcoming smartphone releases around the world.

1. Google Pixel 8

Google’s flagship phone, the Pixel, will get a new release this year, in version 8 of the popular mobile. Even though we’re staring down the barrel of an October release date, it’s never too early to get excited about the latest Google offering. In terms of a phone, the most recent version – the Pixel 7 – was built with AI and machine learning in mind, making it a good choice for consumers looking for this functionality. The Pixel range is cheaper than many of its competitors, including the iPhone, and now can pair up with the Pixel Watch, a welcome inductee to the Pixel family.

2. Google Pixel Fold

Want a Google Fold phone? You might just get your wish this year, as it appears that the release of the Google Pixel Fold may be imminent. Fold phones have seen a flurry of interest but not a huge amount of market uptake, with consumers generally treating the fold as more of a gimmick rather than a way to make their phone experience more productive. A leaked still of the yet-to-be-announced handset has it looking a whole lot like the Oppo Find N.

3. OnePlus 11

OnePlus is one of those brands where you either know them – and you’re a huge fan – or you don’t. The new OnePlus 11 has already been released in China and is awaiting a global release at the time of print. The best thing about this brand new model? It’s the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which is currently one of the fastest Android processors to date. If you’re looking for an alternative to iPhone or Samsung and interested in trying a different manufacturer, you would do well to investigate OnePlus further. Do more from your phone with this baby.

4. Samsung Galaxy S23

Another year, another blockbuster Samsung Galaxy release – if you choose the right region. Among Samsung fans there is always a bit of an argument, asking why certain features (even down to the processor!) are different in the flagship model in certain regions of the world. Speculation about the new edition runs rife: there are rumours that the camera will more closely reflect the new image sensor that Samsung has built that captures up to 200MP pics. Something similar may be released in the Samsung 23 Ultra, so it’s not difficult to ascertain a similar upgrade in their flagship.

5. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5

Flip phones continue their modernization efforts, with Samsung at the helm of trying to make the fold a vertical thing. The Flip 5 is likely to cause a stir in Asian markets are they are more receptive to unique technologies in the mobile space. The latest iteration of this phone is likely to be larger in size with a less noticeable crease for better handling, plus increased battery size to support the larger screen space.

6. POCO X5 Pro

The bumblebee of the smartphone world, the Poco range is a lower-cost, brightly colored alternative to some of the other phones on our list. The X5 Pro is likely to be snapped up by keen photographers as it will feature a triple rear camera, along with a 16MP front facing selfie camera. These types of models are sure to attract phone streamers, one of the world’s latest online professions.

7. iPhone 15

Any smartphone list wouldn’t be complete without adding the latest Apple offering. This time around, it’s the iPhone 15 and its family, headed for an update in September of this year. The iPhone 15 might be getting a port change, thanks to new EU regulations about USB-C charging, which would bring the phone into line with its competitors and bring consumers a sign of relief when it comes to interoperability and worrying about different types of charging cords. Expect further integrations with Macs to make working more seamless across devices.
