He then served in the U.S. Navy, including a tour of duty in Vietnam, before he was allowed to play professional football. He was drafted by the Cowboys in the 1964 NFL Draft, and he led the team to five Super Bowl appearances, winning two of them.
After his playing career ended, Staubach became successful in business, founding the Staubach Company in 1977. He has also been active in civic affairs; he chaired President George W. Bush’s 2000 campaign in Texas and served as a financial advisor to Dallas mayor Tom Leppert’s 2007 election campaign.
He played quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys from 1969 to 1979 and led the team to Super Bowl victories in 1971 and 1977. Staubach was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985.
After his football career ended, Staubach became a successful businessman. In 1989, he founded The Staubach Company, a real estate services firm. The company was sold to Jones Lang LaSalle in 2008 for $613 million.
Staubach is also an active philanthropist. Staubach was named the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player (MVP) following the Cowboys’ victory in Super Bowl VI. Staubach began his professional career with the Dallas Cowboys in 1969.
He played 11 seasons with the team, retiring in 1980. During his time with the Cowboys, Staubach was a six-time Pro Bowl selection and led the team to five Super Bowl appearances, winning Super Bowl VI and XII.
