Diana Ross is a Detroit, Michigan-born American vocalist, actor, and music producer.
Ross first gained notoriety as the lead vocalist of the Supremes, the finest female band in American history and Motown’s finest profitable act in the 1960s.
Diana Ross was conceived in Detroit, Michigan, on March 26, 1944. She initially resided on Detroit’s Belmont Road with her parents until moving to St. Antoine Avenue in 1958.
Ross matriculated in 1962 from Cass Technical High School, a 4 year magnet school in the heart of Detroit that prepares students for university.
She contributed to “The Supremes'” first song, “When the Lovelight Starts Shining Through His Eyes,” which was composed in 1963. She provided the track’s main voice.
She once more provided ‘The Supremes’ with the main voice for their single, ‘Where Did Our Love Go’, the subsequent season. The track was popular and reached the top of the pop charts.
