The Rumored Multiplayer Activity for Horizon is Supposed to Take Place During the Faro Plague.

Guerrilla Games made a tremendous splash in 2017 with Horizon Zero Dawn, creating one of Sony’s most recognizable current PlayStation brands. Sony has pushed Aloy and her post-apocalyptic world by marketing Horizon Forbidden West as a PS5 showcase and touting Horizon Call of the Mountain as the killer app for the PSVR 2.

According to a recent report, Zero Dawn will receive a PS5 remake, as well as a potential multiplayer spin-off. While many would expect this spin-off to incorporate group archery, it may make sense for Guerrilla to draw on their Killzone past and develop a prequel centered on the Faro Plague.

Horizon Forbidden West was also mentioned in this round of rumors as possibly coming to PC, but the majority of the discussion has focused on the necessity of remastering a five-year-old game so soon after Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 1.

As a result, online trends for further PlayStation-exclusive games like Bloodborne have begun to emerge. A multiplayer game built in the Horizon universe, however, has a lot of potentials, particularly if it uses humanity’s fall to create a touching, tragic story that is surrounded by intense gunplay.

What Was the Faro Plague, exactly?

Aloy is the only character in the Horizon franchise to still be alive today because of Project Zero Dawn’s reseeding of life on Earth.

In Horizon Zero Dawn, players discover that robots created by Faro Automated Solutions destroyed the planet’s environment through audio recordings and the main story missions (FAS). Elisabet Sobeck and Ted Faro’s company gained notoriety for their work against climate change, but Ted Faro damaged much of that goodwill by shifting FAS to military contracts.

The Chariot robots from FAS were supposed “peacekeepers,” built to be hacker-proof and never get into the wrong hands. The San Francisco Greenhouse facility in Forbidden West also provides viewers with a closer look at the Chariot line’s extraordinary capacity to devour biomatter as fuel and to procreate via Horus units, also known to the planet’s future residents as Metal Devils. Everything backfires when a swarm goes rogue and “corrupts” other devices.

Elisabet Sobeck launches Project Zero Dawn to create AIs that can break the Chariot robots’ coding and then repopulate the Earth using autonomously created animal machines to clean the land, sea, and air after realizing there is no way to stop the so-called Faro Plague from spreading throughout the globe. Through Operation: Enduring Victory, which recruited millions of civilians to fight the Faro Plague under the pretense that the project is a super weapon, she enlists military leaders to help buy time for Zero Dawn’s completion.

How the Use of Enduring Victory Could Make a Horizon Multiplayer Shooter Successful

A multiplayer game could easily be placed in the more primitive future that Guerrilla portrays, with players choosing members of their favorite Horizon tribe and going on gigantic robot hunts with them—or against them if it takes on a PvP slant—along with other players.

However, a military shooter with novice soldiers recruited for Operation: Enduring Victory can go a couple of different directions in terms of worldbuilding and broadening the scope of what this brand can be.
