In a similar year, 1987, Nelson moved to Washington State and started building homes and writing books concerning treehouses. Starting in 1994 he continued writing more records on the theme of tree houses. In 1997 he co-founded TreeHouse Workshop.
In 2006 he opened Treehouse Point near Fall City. Later, in 2011 he created Nelson Treehouse and stock which is a high-end designed treehouse grounded in Fall City, Washington.
