Observations from the show’s first live week have been examined in a blog article by the Overwatch 2 project team at Blizzard Entertainment.
Additionally, Blizzard has been reported to have stated that the game’s second season will be the only time the heroes’ balance is altered in Overwatch 2.
Map spinning and player rating were two of the topics covered in Blizzard’s most recent developer blog article on their “current thoughts on hero balancing and playability.”
While there are variations in player skill levels, certain characters are doing well than others, according to Blizzard.
The blog provides information on a variety of game elements, including the hero balance, a new map rotation mechanism, and numerous bug fixes applied throughout the game’s initial days. The following significant patch, which will be made available on October 25, will include additional improvements. But between now and then, Blizzard is focusing its attention on a wide range of indicators.
The developer team disclosed that the majority of heroes currently have win rates that are within a healthy range, which they describe as being between 45 and 55 percent. Even though there is a fair balance here, adjustments still need to be done.
The article also mentions how Kiriko, a brand-new hero, has been a crowd favorite and how, as players become more familiar with her move skillset, her victory rate has grown — things Blizzard will closely monitor.
The blog article suggested that Genji might need a nerf at the start of season two, while Doomfist would need a boost. The group is also closely monitoring Sombra, who a lot of gamers have commented about as feeling a touch too harsh toward tanks.
The “Bronze 5” glitch, which many Competitive players have been experiencing, has finally been fixed through the most latest patch by the dev team. The developers intend to address rubber banding difficulties and other bugs that have plagued players since their debut in a future version. Torbjörn and Bastion, who are currently unable to participate in Competitive play due to problems, were not mentioned.
Due to a glitch that affected player skill ratings during the first week of the game, Blizzard also expresses regret for placing certain gamers unfairly low. Blizzard is aware that certain players on PC experience issues with input responsiveness and are working to address these issues.
“Thank you to everyone who participated in Overwatch 2’s first week of play. As we endeavor to make Overwatch 2 the best game possible, we’ll keep listening to player feedback, and we’re excited to share more in the following weeks as Season Two approaches, according to Blizzard.
