Elizabeth Lail, who portrays Mack in the comedy movie Mack & Rita from this year, speaks with ComingSoon Editor-in-Chief Tyler Treese. Lail discussed working with Diane Keaton and providing the voice of Anna from the animated film Frozen in the interview. The movie is currently accessible via Lionsgate on digital platforms, Blu-ray + Digital, DVDs, and video-on-demand.

She becomes an unusual social media phenomenon and starts a cautious affair with Jack, Mack’s cute dog walker. Mack & Rita is a dazzling comedy with a supernatural twist that honors staying true to oneself at any age.

In a recent Zoom interview, Lail told UPI, “Mack is finding it difficult to be her true self among her friends and at work.”
According to the actor, “She goes through this tremendous change that reminds her of who she is, what she enjoys, and that her needs are important and deserving of being shared.” We simply all require regular reassurance.
Dustin Milligan from Schitt’s Creek and Rutherford Falls portrays Jack, Mack’s charming and affluent neighbor, and dog caretaker.
While Jack is in love with Mack, he also notices that he is drawn to the older lady that she transforms into, whom he thinks is Mack’s Aunt Rita (Keaton).
He is going through the same trip and having the same arc as Mack, although according to the actor, he is a little further along.
While Jack is content with his low-key lifestyle and preferences for gigantic shrimp and athleisure apparel, Mack must first overcome her love of stereotypically senior activities and clothing before she can embrace her new appearance.
The actors’ carefully chosen and tailored wardrobes for the film also contributed to their success in bringing Mack and Jack to life on screen.
“At the beginning of the movie, Mack is playing it safe and hiding her body — hiding what brings her joy and just trying to fit into the world’s idea of what success and goodness look like,” Lail said, pointing out how her character yearns to don loud jackets and jewelry but regrettably chooses more casual, less ostentatious clothing.
Lail wishes for the uplifting movie to serve as a beacon of hope in the midst of gloom.
We are all extremely human and, despite our differences, tend to be drawn to and desire the same things, she said. “At the end of the day, we are all very human,” she added.
My desire is that this film spreads happiness, fun, and even a little inspiration, such as, “Actually, who I am is fantastic and deserves to be acknowledged.”
The movie, according to Milligan, was some light entertainment with some sage advice.
