Pokemon Fans Share 23-Year-Old Pokemon Red Save File
A longtime Pokemon player shares a decades-old Pokemon Red save the file on the original Game Boy to spark a nostalgia journey online.
Pokemon Red Version and Pokemon Blue Version are role-playing games developed by Game Freak in 1996 and released by Nintendo for Game Boy. They are the first installments in the Pokémon video game series.
A Pokémon player has shared a save file of his childhood Pokémon Red, online. At the same time, it may be decades since Pokémon fans first picked up a Game Boy and trained their first Pokémon.
The love for this iconic franchise has never wavered, and with the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet just a few weeks away, some fans are looking to the past for some good old nostalgia.
Debut
Pokemon Red and Blue first debuted in 1998. These were the first Pokémon games released outside of Japan in the North American market.
These games took him only a year to make Pokémon a household Nintendo franchise with his ten-year fan base.
Unfortunately, Pokemon Red and Blue were released towards the end of the Game Boy’s lifespan, but that didn’t stop players from entering. From iconic game sprites to music, there’s a lot that fans love about games.
In a popular Reddit Gaming thread, a fan shared a photo of his 23-year-old Pokémon Red saving his files.
Pokémon fan 0Frokachu shared that he has been doing this save without resetting since he was 7 years old. They also said the game still works after all these years.
The split image is the popular Level 100 Pokemon Charizard, which also graces the cover of Pokemon Red.

Charizard has been making headlines lately, with a talented fan making a statue of the legendary Dragon-type Pokémon.
Pokemon Crystal
They also stated that this Pokemon was eventually taken over by Pokemon Crystal and returned. The player also shared that his Crystal save files was fried, which could be relevant to many other games.
Unfortunately, this has become the standard for original Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal cartridges. Fans are still waiting for Pokémon Gold and Silver to come to Nintendo Switch.
Their trainer’s name was ‘Randy’ and he got all 151 Pokémon available and had a total playtime of 126:05. A dedicated player indeed.
Other players commented that the old Pokemon games were more fun than the Pokemon games of today. Perhaps the new Trainer Battle changes for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will change fans’ minds.
Anyway, when you look back at the past Pokemon franchise, you realize that no matter how old the title gets, it always has a place in Pokemon history.
