Following the announcement that a Community movie was in the works, the show’s creator, Dan Harmon, gave fans a hopeful update.
The majority of the original cast of the sitcom, with the exception of Yvette Nicole Brown and Chevy Chase, has been formally confirmed to return, but fans are impatiently awaiting news on whether entertainer/rapper Donald Glover will also be joining them.
Even though it hasn’t been confirmed, Dan is confident that Glover will reprise his role as Barnes in the future film.
It’s difficult to picture a “Community” movie without Troy and Brown, even though they left the show early in season 5 so Glover could concentrate on his expanding musical career (as Childish Gambino) and Brown left after season 5 to take care of her sick father.
Dan Harmon, the creator of “Community,” said in an interview with Variety that although the cast has only been formally announced thus far, there are preparations being made behind the curtains that must bring two of our favourite fictitious classmates back for the movie.
The closure of Glover’s popular show Atlanta also bodes well for Harmon’s hopes of a future Troy Barnes reunion. After it is over, Glover should have ample time to consider making a comeback as Troy, though that depends on his interest. Brown has expressed interest in playing Shirley Bennett in the film, although Harmon has not stated whether or not Chase or Brown will return.
Without a doubt, the Community movie would greatly benefit from Glover’s comeback if he were to play Troy again. When Community was at its best, Troy Barnes was the indispensable component that held the programme together. Glover played Barnes expertly, embodying the layered satire that Community took great satisfaction in being.
Despite being perceived as a typical, if dumb, character, he had a strong sense of weirdness that made him relatable to every member of the ensemble, especially Abed, who was more effective when his connection with Troy was on display. . Similar to how the programme did, the movie might continue to be good without Troy Barnes, but it’s easy to understand why they would want him back.
In the meanwhile, Harmon explained why Peacock was chosen as the movie’s location by “Community” studio Sony Pictures Television. Due to the fact that “Community” was created and first broadcast on NBC, Universal TV is a collaborator on the show. However, Harmon acknowledged that the film was being marketed about town and was the subject of a negotiation. Larger platforms expressed interest, but Harmon claimed that Peacock made a reasonable offer.
We’ll be content people as long as we have one more chance in our lives to hear Danny Pudi and Glover sing “Troy and Abed in the mooorr-ning!”
