Every year COP meetings are held and very important decisions towards our important decisions take place. The last summit was held in Glasgow, Scotland. This time the summit will focus on the decision made at the Paris summit.
27th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 27), This year it will take place in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt in the second and third week of November. Two-week summit from 6-18 November 2022 at Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
The conference will bring together world leaders to discuss how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and take other climate action to prevent catastrophic climate change.
The world has made great progress since the 2015 Paris Agreement was signed at COP21, but there is still much work to be done. Emission of gases should be under 45% by 2030 to avoid a rise in temperature as per the Paris summit agreement.
COP27 will be a critical opportunity for world leaders to show their commitment to the Paris Agreement and take action to reduce emissions. Countries must come to COP27 prepared to announce bold new commitments and plans for reducing emissions.
Continuous engagement with all countries will be necessary for the lead-up to COP27 to ensure a successful outcome. Countries must continue working together to ramp up ambition and take the necessary actions to prevent catastrophic climate change.
COP27 will be a critical moment for the climate change negotiations, as Parties will need to take ambitious action to put the Paris Agreement into practice and ramp up efforts to meet the global temperature goal.
The conference will be an important opportunity for Parties to assess progress made since the adoption of the Paris Agreement and to identify what more needs to be done to meet its goals. In addition, COP27 will be an important opportunity for Parties to showcase their climate action plans and commitments, and to build momentum toward raising ambition in the years ahead.
The conference comes at a time when the world is facing an increasingly urgent need to take ambitious action on climate change. COP27 must therefore deliver on two key fronts: first, by taking forward the implementation of the Paris Agreement;
and second, by increasing ambition so that we can put the world on a path to meeting the global temperature goal. Parties must take concrete steps at COP27 to operationalize the Paris Agreement and make it work for people and nature. This includes finalizing the rules and
various events and initiatives are underway to ensure a successful outcome. Ambition Alliance was one of them to discuss.
