The Reddit thread below is an excellent example of a complaint about this flaw, which Kotaku first reported. However, the bug dates back to the surveillance of two betas. Using the in-game chat menu does not prevent it from being entered elsewhere. In other words, anything players do in the chat is reflected in-game, resulting in users purchasing skins from the in-game Shop while viewing the Hero Gallery.
According to Reddit user Dracyoshi, the glitch prompted them to purchase a skin for 300 legacy credits, while others have claimed losses of up to 1900 credits. Worse, Dracyoshi called Blizzard support, who refused to refund the purchase.
As a result of this issue, Blizzard may be unable to discern between accidental and intended purchases, but this does not bode well for the company. Surveillance 2 has undergone various modifications, including converting to a free model and implementing a Battle Pass system. These changes have created more trouble than they are worth for many players.
Aside from this bug, Overwatch 2 has been criticized for excessive wait times, general server issues, the lack of new content in the sequel, its in-game fees, and a variety of other topics. Many of the pre-release concerns look to manifest themselves, and many new difficulties complicate the experience. Hopefully, Blizzard will be able to shift course and get Surveillance 2 where it needs to be soon. Many FPS enthusiasts enjoyed the first game, but with all of the above and a slew of glitches, the sequel appears to be leaving a bitter taste in many mouths.
