The “Connected” commercial confirms actor Arian Moayed’s return as Agent Cleary of the Department of Damage Control from Spider-Man: No Way Home, despite the fact that it is only seen for a few seconds.
The agent may be heard discussing reports of Kamala Khan’s hard light powers with a colleague and asking that they “bring her in” for more information. Other shots show the agents wandering Jersey City and approaching Kamala in costume, though it’s unclear whether they’re Ms. Marvel’s major antagonists or only setting the stage for a larger menace.
Ms. Marvel will be Kamala Khan’s first live-action appearance since the debut of her first solo comic series in 2014. The character has previously appeared in animated shows such as Marvel’s Avengers Assemble and Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors, as well as video games such as Marvel’s Avengers and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. Ms. Marvel takes set about one to two years after Avengers: Endgame, according to Amanat, but it’s unclear to what extent the Decimation affected Kamala or her family. Vellani will reprise her role as Monica Rambeau in 2023’s The Marvels, alongside Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris as Captain Marvel and Captain Marvel, respectively.
Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American high school girl who gains cosmic powers from a mystery bangle, will be introduced to Ms. Marvel viewers soon. According to a new teaser, Agent Cleary appears to be interested in Kamala as she begins her heroic quest, which will continue in The Marvels.
The new “Connected” teaser for Ms. Marvel featured numerous interesting new shots, including the return of Agent Cleary from Spider-Man: No Way Home, who was last seen interviewing Peter Parker and co. The Damage Control agent is shown with a colleague who shows him a photograph and claims to have “never seen powers like that.”The government agencies that keep heroes in check have always been important in the MCU; even Tony Stark was constantly under surveillance in Iron Man. The shield is no longer active, and groups like SWORD and Damage Control, both of whom appeared in Phase 4, have taken over its hero-monitoring duties.
Damage Control was originally introduced to fans in Spider-Man: Homecoming, when they took over Adrian Toomes’ Vulture’s Battle of New York clean-up chores. Damage Control made a comeback in No Way Home, when Arian Moayed’s Agent Cleary arrested Peter Parker and interrogated him about Mysterio’s death and the London drone strike.
Peter appears to be free of those allegations now that his memory has been erased from the globe, but that doesn’t mean Cleary won’t continue to keep an eye on other heroes. The Damage Control agent will make his second appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in this month’s Ms. Marvel Disney+ series.
