One player learns that facing the hardest double monster in the Elden Ring, the Godskin Duo boss room, alone might be just as deadly.

Due to the overwhelming aggression from two adversaries that had previously been faced alone suddenly fighting together, the Godskin Duo boss encounter soon rose to become one of the most infamous battles among Elden Ring gamers. One player, however, can barely make it into the boss arena, making it seem as though they will never be able to even begin fighting the Godskin Duo.

Reddit user mndflyr shared their experience of entering into the Godskin Duo and being unable to take even one farther step into the room in a post to the Elden Ring subreddit. To make matters worse, since Demon’s Souls, previous FromSoftware games have had problems with the fog walls that lead into arenas. This causes the player to die, not the boss.

A brief film shows the player entering the Godskin Duo fight with extremely low health, which is a recipe for catastrophe when facing this fierce encounter. But even before the player can enter the arena, he or she inexplicably takes damage and passes away right away because their HP is so low. As a result, the player dies instantly before getting a decent glimpse at Elden Ring’s Godkin Duo and suffers the unavoidable extra insult of having fireballs shot at his or her already-disappearing body.

The source of this seemingly random damage is coming from outside the boss arena, though given how rapidly the player is killed, it can be impossible to see. It appears that adversaries who had engaged the player in a fight before are not only hostile while entering a boss arena, but they can also occasionally fire their weapons through the fog walls of Elden Ring to deal damage.

Fog walls in games like Dark Souls have previously failed to deter approaching attacks and struck players right at the onset of a challenging boss fight, so this isn’t even new for FromSoftware games.

It is understandable if the player had another enemy’s aggro before entering the boss battle with the Godskin Duo in particular. Because there are so many strong foes in the area leading up to the arena, it’s frequently preferable to try to avoid them rather than face them before the Godskin Duo, which is one reason why this boss in particular has become so controversial among fans.

So, while this is a very unpleasant and funny event, it could happen frequently as players struggle to reach the boss room in Elden Ring’s Crumbling Farum Azula.
