Late last year, Twitter added automatically produced captions to videos on its site. On the other hand, there wasn’t a great way to regulate them on mobile, forcing users to go into accessibility settings. Viewers accessing material from their web browsers could quickly toggle them on or off. Thankfully, everything has been resolved, and everyone can now easily toggle the captions on both Android and iOS.
Caption toggles for mobile devices first entered testing in April, although they were only available for iOS at the time. Users can toggle closed captions on or off by clicking the “CC” (closed captions) icon in the top-right corner of videos that have captions available thanks to extended access, which now includes Android.
Although there are presently 37 languages with auto-captions, they only currently work with the language in which the video was uploaded. Although we haven’t been given a deadline, the support team has previously stated that translated video subtitles would eventually be available on the platform.
Video captions or no captions, it’s now easier to choose for some of you on iOS, and soon on Android.
