With less than three months until its release, July’s Thor: Love and Thunder has stolen the spotlight, despite the fact that two additional Moon Knight series and Doctor Strange 2 are on the way. Fans finally got their first peek at Chris Hemsworth’s Thor for the very first time after Avengers: Endgame on April 18, kicking off the MCU’s quickest promotional tour in history.
The first look at Thor: Love and Thunder provided lots of thrilling teases for what the fan-favorite God of Thunder will encounter in his new journey in just 90 seconds of film. This new sequel is packed with exciting action and story beats, from his further travels with the Guardians of the Galaxy to his understanding that Jane Foster has become the Mighty Thor.
Marvel fans flocked to the debut trailer in droves, propelling it into the top ten most-watched trailers of all time in its first 24 hours online. While the latest information about the film does not add to that outstanding total, viewers now have the ability to see the footage in IMAX format.
Thanks to an IMAX trailer with the company’s famous enlarged aspect ratio, you can view another 23% of the action. There are no secret characters or anything like that, but Thor: Love and Thunder appears to be a must-see on the biggest screens possible.
In similar story, YouTuber John Campea (via The Direct) claims that Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder will return in the Thor: Ragnarok sequel. It would make sense for director Taika Waititi to direct the last instalment of his Thor trilogy, however we’d be surprised if Thor doesn’t play a vital role in the MCU’s next incarnation of the Avengers.
Thor (Chris Hemsworth) embarks on a quest for inner calm unlike anything he’s ever experienced before in this film. However, a galactic murderer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who wants the destruction of the gods, interrupts his retirement. To counter the menace, Thor enlists the aid of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who, to Thor’s amazement, wields his mystical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.
They embark on a perilous cosmic journey together to unravel the secret surrounding the God Butcher’s revenge and prevent him before it becomes too late. Isn’t it going to be a thrilling ride?
The kind of preparation Natalie had to go through for her Thor: Love and Thunder role isn’t surprising, given the physical routines that other Marvel actors had to go through to reflect their respective MCU characters. Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Chris Pratt, and others have all had to deal with this. Given the importance of the MCU’s Mighty Thor appearing as a physically strong female combatant who can be considered as an equivalent to Hemsworth’s character, it’s only natural that Marvel would give Jane Foster a brand new, buff look in Thor 4.
