India Lost 0-2 to Jordan in a Friendly International Football Match Here on Saturday as the Return of Talisman Sunil Chhetri Was Not Enough for the Blue Tigers.

The 91st-ranked team in West Asia left it late as Monther Abu Amara (75th minute) and Abu Zraiq (90 + 4) found the net and India, ranked 106th in the FIFA rankings, failed to score at Qatar Sports.

India, preparing for the final round of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, will face Cambodia on June 8 in Kolkata in a Group D match.

The match was India’s last pre-match match before the Asian Cup Qualifiers.

Still breathing without a goal, his replacement Monther Abu Amara put Jordan ahead when he found the top corner of the net with the first shot coming from outside the 18-yard box.

Abu Amara then became a supporter when he received the ball from Mohammad Abu Zraiq and returned it to the latest, his effort surpassing Indian defender Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, who had little back support.

A team ranked at the top of the game, Jordan looked much better than the Indian team going forward with Sandhu being called to the machine in the late half to block the game that hit him in front of him.

First of all, Jordan created the first two chances of the game – a free-kick and a shot – but both came out of nowhere.

Even when Jordan looked to score, the Indian defense stood firm. Jordan came close to scoring in the first half as Mahmoud Almardi’s ball landed on the net.

But in the end, India was again defeated by the rest of the world. Chhetri, 37, last played for India in a 3-0 win over Nepal in the SAFF Championships final in October 2021.

Both teams failed to break the deadlock in the first half of their match. The first 45 minutes of alert saw Jordan have fewer chances on goal, but a confident defense from the visitors helped the attackers escape.

Igor Stimac had to make some changes during the break, and he replaced Asvirque Kurhiyan and Yasir Mohammad with Manvir Singh and Anirudh Thapa, respectively. As a result, the second round was more open than the first.

But despite the chances of Sunil Chhetri and Sahal Samad in the last 45 minutes, the goal was not meant to be for India. Now they are looking forward to the upcoming big games, as they head back to Kolkata for the qualifiers.

The Blue Tigers failed to find a shot in the net during the game, and were unable to test the opposing team’s goalkeeper as a result. Winning in their qualifying match would help them qualify for the Asian Cup qualifiers. But instead, they will have to take the pieces and reassemble at their own expense and try to make progress.
