Taking inspiration from the famous Exploding Kittens card game, Netflix will release a mobile game and television series from the same property, marking the first time this has happened.
In May, Netflix will release Exploding Kittens – The Game, an exclusive version of the popular mobile game, followed by an adult animated comedy series in 2023, starring Tom Ellis (Rush, Lucifer), Abraham Lim (Clickbait, The Boys), Lucy Liu (Shazam, Elementary), Ally Maki (Wrecked, Toy Story 4), Mark Proksch (What We Do In The Shadows, Better Call Saul), and Sasheer Zamata (What We (Woke, Home Economics).
The unending war between Heaven and Hell reaches epic dimensions in the animated series Exploding Kittens when both God and the Devil are dispatched to Earth – in the form of chubby domestic cats – to save the world.
Elan Lee and Matthew Inman, co-creators of the Exploding Kittens franchise, are executive producers on the show, as are Mike Judge, Greg Daniels, and Dustin Davis of Bandera Entertainment; Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping of the Chernin Entertainment Group; and Elan Lee and Matthew Inman, co-creators of the Exploding Kittens franchise and executive producers on the show.
Cats on Fire – The game preserves the same basic gameplay, with players drawing cards to escape being hit by an Exploding Kitten.
Along with that, fans will be delighted by the addition of two new special cards: Radar, which allows players to see where the Exploding Kitten is located at the top of the card deck; and Flip Flop, which allows players to reverse the order of the cards in the deck.
Future cards and game mechanics will be based on the animated series, allowing friends and family to interact with their favorite characters and bring the program to life in their own homes.
Netflix users will be able to play the game, which will include single-player and multiplayer modes, without having to pay any extra fees or make any in-app purchases.
