Bridgerton Queen Charlotte Spin off series-everything we need to know so far!

A Bridgerton Queen Charlotte spin-off is now in production, depicting the story of the monarch’s ascension to the throne.

Netflix describes the show as a limited series that will run for only one season and follow some of our favorite characters from the main show as they grow up. We also know that the new spin-off will be a prequel to both the first and second seasons of Bridgerton.

The story will center on a young Queen Charlotte (played by Golda Rosheuval in Bridgerton’s first two seasons), but it will also include a young Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) and matriarch Violet (Ruth Gemmell).

The release date for the Queen Charlotte spin-off Bridgerton

Filming for the Bridgerton spin-off began in London in January 2022 and is expected to wrap in May 2022, according to Netflix.

We’re crossing our fingers for a Christmas 2022 release date — what a wonderful treat that would be! It may not be ready until early 2023, however. We’ll let you know as soon as an official air date is established.

Bridgerton Queen Charlotte spin-off: series plot

“A limited prequel series based on the origins of Queen Charlotte, that will center on the rise and love life of a young Charlotte,” according to a Netflix press release. The story of young Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury will also be told in the spinoff.”

While Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton novels are works of fiction, there was a real Queen Charlotte in Britain in the early 1800s, and even though she isn’t mentioned in the books, producer Shonda Rhimes decided to include her in the program.

Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos, on the other hand, encouraged Rhimes to produce a spin-off series for the monarch… “Ted called me on the phone and asked, ‘Why aren’t we creating a show about Queen Charlotte?’ And what about you?

“I’m enamored with Queen Charlotte, and I constantly refer to her as the show’s Beyoncé.” “God, I love her wigs,” I’m always saying aloud, hoping that someone will bring me one of her wigs so that I may walk around wearing it.”

Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz was a German noblewoman who married George III in 1761 and became his queen consort. Although the marriage had 15 children, King George III was plagued by mental illness, which impeded his reign. In the main Bridgerton series, James Fleet (Vicar of Dibley) plays King George III.

Bridgerton Queen Charlotte spin-off cast

There’s no word on who will play the young Queen Charlotte, Lady Danbury, or Violet Bridgerton, and Netflix is remaining mum on the show’s other characters and cast members, though we’re guessing a young George will make an appearance. We’ll notify you as soon as casting news becomes available.
