YouTube now includes TikTok-style live rings to indicate when a channel is broadcasting.

YouTube, which is owned by Google, is introducing a new icon to identify when a channel is live streaming on the platform.

The function would make it easier to locate live content. When a channel is live streaming, the new update will display a ring with the word “Live” around their profile image.

“We’re working hard to make it simpler for people to access live streams on YouTube, so we’re bringing the Live ring feature to smartphones. YouTube creators who are broadcasting live now have a ring around their channel avatar, and clicking on it takes you right to the Livestream “YouTube’s Chief Product Officer, Neal Mohan, issued a statement.

TikTok now employs a pulsating ring effect on a channel’s profile photo to notify users when it is life.

Meanwhile, YouTube TV on iPhone and iPad now supports picture-in-picture (PiP).

Mohan stated that while he couldn’t give a specific date, picture-in-picture compatibility for YouTube TV customers on iOS should emerge “hopefully in the next few months.”

YouTube TV is also working on expanding some other features, such as surround sound, which was introduced last year on a very limited number of devices.

According to Neal Mohan, YouTube’s Chief Product Officer, who explained the video platform’s focus on making it easier for users to find live streams on Twitter, the video platform is highly focused on making it simpler for users to find live streams.

The simplest method to achieve this, at least on mobile devices, is to add a red circle around the channel avatar with the word LIVE to signify when the live broadcast is active.

If you find a live streaming channel and wish to watch it, simply hit the LIVE symbol displayed on the user’s avatar to begin the live broadcast.

The new feature comes after a change of the YouTube interface for Android and iOS earlier this month, though it’s still being rolled out slowly, and should make it simpler for users to locate presently streaming video while they surf YouTube.

This feature, which will be available on The Verge on Tuesday, February 22, may seem familiar since it has already been deployed on other platforms such as TikTok. If viewers click through their videos in the feed, the Chinese social media utilizes a similar effect on channel profile photographs if they broadcast.

The same is true for Instagram, which, thanks to Meta, displays colored ring-like signs surrounding the Livestream account’s profile image when it is featured at the top of the feed.

The live ring UI appears to be too good to not be included in YouTube. The most visible illustration of YouTube’s influence from TikTok is without a doubt Shorts, a tool that allows viewers to explore short video material via a vertically scrolling feed.
