Vivo’s gaming-focused sub-brand, iQOO, has announced the introduction of its latest flagship phones in India, the iQOO 9 and 9 Pro. They don’t appear like obvious gamer phones, like earlier iQOO devices, but they’re nonetheless focused on performance. iQOO is emphasizing this in its marketing with a collaboration with BMW M Motorsport and a white vehicle with three rally stripes.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU, up to 12GB of RAM, and a 4,700mAh battery power the iQOO 9 Pro. The display is a 6.78-inch 1440p 120Hz OLED panel, and the camera system features a 50-megapixel ultrawide, a 16-megapixel portrait camera, and a 50-megapixel primary sensor with gimbal-style stabilization, as seen in recent Vivo flagships. It can be charged by cable at 120W or wirelessly at up to 50W, which is unprecedented for a Vivo-related phone.
The non-Pro iQOO 9 differs in that it has a Snapdragon 888 Plus processor, a 4,350mAh battery, and a 6.56-inch 1080p 120Hz OLED screen. A 48-megapixel primary camera, a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 13-megapixel portrait camera are housed in the smaller camera bump. The phone still supports 120W cable charging, however, there is no wireless charging option. Vivo’s Funtouch OS 12, which is based on Android 12, is used by both the iQOO 9 and 9 Pro.
The iQOO 9 Pro will cost Rs. 64,990 ($870) in India for a device with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, or Rs. 69,990 ($940) for a variant with 12GB/256GB. The iQOO 9 costs Rs. 42,990 (about $580) for 8GB/128GB and Rs. 46,990 (approximately $630) for 12GB/256GB. The phones will be on sale on March 2nd.
On Wednesday, Vivo’s sub-brand iQoo unveiled three new flagship-grade smartphones, the iQoo 9, iQoo 9 SE, and iQoo 9 Pro, all powered by high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets. All three smartphones include a 120Hz refresh rate, twin stereo speakers, and triple back cameras.
Aside from that, iQoo claims that these smartphones include a specialized display chip, which is claimed to improve the mobile gaming experience. Surprisingly, both the iQoo 9 Pro and the iQoo 9 come with ‘Gimbal’ cameras, but the SE edition does not. All three phones come pre-installed with Android 12.
