Microsoft Flight Simulator Rumored to Welcome DLSS Support This Year

In a developer Q&A blog article, Microsoft stated that its very popular Flight Simulator will be getting an upgrade to include NVIDIA’s DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) capabilities sometime this year. Virtual pilots will now be able to fly some of the world’s most renowned planes with framerates that are more in line with real cruising altitude thanks to the technology created by tech giant Nvidia for its RTX video cards.

Flight Simulator was created by Microsoft and Asobe Studios, and the game’s landscapes and intricate models have been known to put even the most powerful graphics cards to the test. Nvidia claims that DLSS, when enabled, may enhance framerates by over 70%, therefore it should be possible to either boost performance or raise the degree of detail in games with DLSS.

Nvidia users will now have an additional performance-enhancing option with this update. The game has used upscaling before, with AMD’s FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) innovation being the most notable example. Gamers, on the other hand, believe that DLSS provides better picture quality compared to AMD’s FSR (at least in still pictures). This is great news for RTX-class graphics card owners from the green team.

Since its introduction in August 2020, Flight Simulator has received several performance-enhancing upgrades, such as compatibility for DX12 rendering as well as other general performance enhancements.

Although the DLSS update announcement does not include a release date, the crew at Asobo Studios normally maintains a clear roadmap of development and planned upgrades.

Flight Simulator X’s newest version, which was released on January 31st, includes a “new digital elevation model” with “updated satellite data” for Australia. New maps for Portugal and Spain will be included in World Update 8, which is expected to be released at the end of March. Maverick expansion bundle for Top Gun: Maverick will be released for free in May 2022.

The DLC will be available on the same platform it always has been: on Steam, Windows 10 PC, Xbox Game Pass, and Xbox Series X|S. The F-18 and other things drawn by the film, starring Tom Cruise, will be included in a free expansion bundle slated to be released soon.

Gliders and helicopters, according to the crew, are in the works for the fall, but there’s no telling when we’ll learn more about them. Considering that the online Q&A is set at the end of February, players may expect to hear more about forthcoming World and Sim upgrades at that time as well.

Sim update 9 is rumored to concentrate on long-haul flight issues, but no more information has been released.

Epic Games’ assertions that Apple’s app store policies seek to eclipse the competition have received support from 35 states in the United States. Apple’s first finding that it didn’t have a dominating grip over the mobile app industry was untrue, according to a coalition of attorneys general from both parties who filed a court brief.
