Across the Spider-Verse is being directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson, succeeding original directors Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman. With Dave Callaham, Lord and Miller co-wrote the script (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings).
Across The Spider-Verse Trailer Synopsis
The first trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has been released by Sony (Part One). It’s the follow-up to 2018’s Oscar-winning animated superhero film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and it recounts the story of Spider-Miles Man’s Morales (Shameik Moore). The previous film was about the multiverse and featured alternate versions of Spider-Man from other dimensions.
Broadly speaking, the trailer reveals little about the plot, but Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) looks promising. And this is largely due to the quality of the first film, which surprised everyone and ended up winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. A similar stunning visual style can be found here. Let’s hope that, once again, the script manages to juggle multiple characters while telling a compelling Miles-centered story.
When Will Across The Spider-Verse Release?
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to hit theatres on October 7, 2022.
According to the new trailer, the sequel will expand on the same idea. The plotline was made possible in the first film because the criminal mastermind Kingpin used a device called the Super-Collider to bring back his killed wife and son from another universe where they were thought to be alive.
Who Will Be in Across The Spider-Verse?
In Across the Spider-Verse Part One, Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld), who was one of the Spider-People in the first film, appears to have easy access to the rift between different dimensions. She entices Miles back into adventure, and the next scene shows him falling through a hexagonal ring portal. He finds himself in another dimension.
Evaluating by the sounds and Hindi words on storefronts, which looks like an Indian city. It remains to be seen if any other familiar Spider-People, such as Kimiko Glenn’s Peni Parker, Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Man Noir, or John Mulaney’s Spider-Ham, will make an appearance.
When asked, Lord and Miller remained tight-lipped, only saying, “Miles will see some old friends and meet a lot of new ones.”
