The new Solterra is Subaru’s first foray into EVs and hybrids, and it’s a step in the right direction. Toyota and Subaru collaborated on the project, which is based on the BR-Z/86 sports vehicle (even though the Subaru has a far greater name and is a much appealing car).

AWD with a higher ground clearance than the Mustang Mach-E (5.7 inches) and the VW ID.4 (6.7 inches) could make the Solterra the favored EV of outdoor-loving Subaru devotees.

There isn’t, but it does have Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist technology. If you’re going to back into something, it will include a 360-degree camera, a blind-spot monitor with reverse cross-traffic warning, and a conventional auto-braking feature.

To secure you in your zone on the highway, EyeSight features adaptive cruise control as well as an active lane help feature.
