The Last of Us Part 2 has been a phenomenal addition to the PS4 and with it would be an understatement to say that it was influential. Following the classic Naughty Dog formula, the game made strides in both developments and experiencing providing one of the best experiences on the PS4.
Released in its end of the cycle point the game was certainly expected to outperform its predecessors in many ways both in terms of sales and innovation. That proved to be true since the game turned out to be the best selling PS4 title to date with copies sold over 40 million and counting.

However, the PSN downloads section hasn’t been quiet either. June’s PSN Chart shows that the game topped both in the North American region as well as Europe. With other titles close behind. Despite having such a huge file size, the stats show that given impressive download speeds folks are no longer worried about downloading such huge files.
As we’ve seen the hype is still built up for the game and we can clearly see that more and more folks are ready to opt for a more digital approach. Since the PS5 is set to come with a disc-less variant all this information could prove to be vital for Sony considering how many folks prefer online purchase than physical discs.
Its safe to say that the future is clearly disc-less however when that may come is yet uncertain.
