The award-winning game of 2018 Tetris Effect is coming to Xbox with a timed exclusive multiplayer expansion named Tetris Effect: Connected. According to the developers, the game shall arrive this fall for the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Windows 10 Microsoft Store. The game shall also be available on the Xbox Game Pass and Smart Delivery Programs when they are launched alongside the Xbox Series X console this Winter 2020. This is a timed exclusive which means that while these platforms will get the expansion pack in 2020, this will also arrive as a free update for the PlayStation 4, Epic Games Store, and Oculus Quest later in 2021.
Tetris Effect was initially released for the PlayStation 4 in 2018 and then for the PC in 2019. The game took classic Tetris and made it more up to date for current-gen consoles while adding support for VR. The game has amazing visuals and classic gameplay that won it the Best VR/AR Game at the 2018 Game Critics Awards. The game was very well received by both old and new players alike. Originally the game was singleplayer only with no local or online multiplayer, but the new multiplayer expansion seeks to fix just that
Tetris Effect: Connected, as the name suggests, brings a lot of new ways to play together with your friends and family while you enjoy the eye-catching gameplay and backgrounds together. It has an all-new co-op and competitive online modes which will allow you to play together or against other people online. The expansion pack includes new local multiplayer modes that will allow your friends and family to join you on the same couch. You can have up to 2 players for competitive and up to 3 players for co-op with CPU players to fill in where needed. Since there is a competitive mode we also see matchmaking, ranked and unranked play, and a player progression system. The game shall support cross-play between all platforms.
Overall, this shall breathe new life into this marvelous game as solo-play can get boring after a while. This multiplayer expansion should give players a lot more hours of fun.
