There’s no doubt, phones are getting powerful every year. With the competition never-ending, Samsung has begun its April fools tantrum by announcing a CPU adapter that allows you to install an Exynos SoC onto your full-fledged desktop PC.
Apparently, the teaser image Samsung has been throwing around their social media platform showcases how one may install an Exynos SoC onto their PC. Samsung, in typical fashion, teases all the benefits of their Exynos 9820 SoC. From powering the latest Galaxy S10 series to featuring some of the very raw scores obtained from a mobile SoC. And while the concept is incredible, it would surely show its limitations in a lot of tasks.
For the mobile chip though, the Exynos 9820 is no joke. Not only is it 40% faster than its last-gen counterpart, the Exynos 9810. But it also features a decicated NPU for tasks that require complex artificial intelligence operations to be executed.
In benchmarks though, the Exynos 9820 could go up against a ton of modern low-level desktop CPUs though when it comes to simply crunching numbers. If that wasn’t the case, we’d bet that Samsung would be more than happy to begin taking over the world with its SoCs. After all, it’s the last ingredient Samsung needs to dominate the desktop market. What doesn’t Samsung have? From flash storage devices such as SSDs to memory controllers, Samsung has them all. However, if the tech does become prevalent over the next few years, you’ve seen it here first… from Samsung.
