OnePlus has definitely been enjoying a ton lot of success ever since the OnePlus 2 flipped a few years ago. Their latest announcement, the OnePlus 6T, it about to get yet another makeover. And this time, OnePlus has teamed up with McLaren to showcase a new variant of the OnePlus 6T.
OnePlus had been teasing their whole partnership with McLaren for the past week. With the announcement date set for December 11th, leakers have eventually got their hands on the marketing material for the new OnePlus 6T McLaren Editon that reveals what the fuss is all about.
Courtesy of Ishan Agarwal, the new images showcased of the OnePlus 6T share no resemblance to its other variants, at least when it comes to the overall theme of the device. A larger portion of the device sports a carbon fiber back along with orange borders running across the bottom half of the device. Regarding the front, it seems like it’s unscathed.
Now if you’ve been doing your homework well, OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, and Realme are simply sub-brands of a single company, BBK Electronics. The Chinese company has been leading the charge for all four of their brands very well and amongst all the rivalry between Huawei and its sub-brands, BBK Electronics doesn’t want to back down from all the partnerships Huawei has been doing lately.
Following the successful launch of the Oppo Find X Lamborghini Edition, many were stunned for how well Oppo managed to pull off such a launch. Not only was the box and phone themed accordingly, but the charging brick, box color and theme all managed to fulfill the special launch of the device.
Given that this would be OnePlus’s first partnership with a car brand, we’re expecting OnePlus to deliver the limited edition OnePlus 6T just as well as Oppo did with their Find X Lamborghini Edition.
Internally, there isn’t much to be surprised about. However, what’s worth mentioning is that the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition would feature 10GB RAM, that’s another 2GB over the OnePlus 6T’s high-end variant. We’re expecting to see the usual Snapdragon 845 SoC, 10GB RAM, a 6.41-inch display and a 3700mAh battery.
In total, OnePlus now has four colors/themes for the OnePlus 6T, that is, Midnight Black, Mirror Black, Thunder Purple and now, the McLaren Edition.
How well this would play out is yet to be seen. But given that OnePlus is holding an exclusive event for the launch of the phone tell us that this launch could mean business.
