As Black Friday closes in, it seems like the deals from the red team are already beginning to heat up. The latest deal that’s about to shake up everyone’s build plans is about to take a hit as AMD’s last-gen Ryzen 7 1700X is currently listed on NewEgg for $149.
AMD’s Ryzen 7 1700X CPU is one of AMD’s lineup of Ryzen CPUs that made its way into the market last year. When the CPU first hit the market, AMD had given the Ryzen 7 1700X a $309 price tag to compete with the Core i7-7700k back then. With the CPU now retailing for less than $150, AMD’s Ryzen 7 1700X is more than just an enticing gaming CPU. Thanks to its incredible core count and its excellent IPC improvements over AMD’s lousy FX generation of processors, AMD’s Ryzen 7 series of processors offered incredible value compared to Intel’s offerings thanks to its excellent price tag and all-rounded performance.
Now that the CPU is retailing for less than $150 on Newegg, AMD is giving Intel some hard jawbreakers. Now only is the Ryzen 7 1700X a more enticing option compared to Intel’s offerings such as the i5 8400 but is also an incredible option if you were planning to pick up a Ryzen 2600 or 2600X.
However, what’s worth noting is that the deal seems to be valid only for the Ryzen 7 1700X as the prices for both, the Ryzen 7 1800X and 1700 remain untouched. Another point to note is that being an “X” CPU, the Ryzen 7 1700X lacks a CPU cooler in the box, which in turn, would require you to buy a CPU cooler as well.
There’s no news on whether this deal would get better or if Newegg plans to retract the deal sooner or later after Black Friday is over. However, given the current shape of the market, the Ryzen 1700X seems to be an incredible option for the price its retailing at right now.
