Xiaomi has enjoyed massive success with the release of their first Android One smartphone, the Mi A1. Following Xiaomi, Meizu seems to be following the cult of having a pure stock Android One device.
Recently, the Head of Global Marketing at Meizu has announced their partnership with Google to build their first Android One device. This means, that the phone that Meizu is working on would run on stock Android 8.1 and would exclude any bloat or UI skins from Meizu. On top of that, since Android One devices are targeting towards the budget-conscious consumers in Asia, this under-development device from Meizu would most probably feature mid-range hardware for a mid-range price following the demand of consumers.
There’s no word or tease of how the device would look like or what it may pack. However, we could be rest assured that the device is most probably coming within the next few months following the unexpected tease from the Head of Global Marketing at Meizu. If it is coming anytime soon, Meizu would most probably be aware of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 and Asus’s Zenfone Max Pro’s existence in the market. What Meizu hides within their sleeves should be unveiled within the next few months. And if so, I personally am curious about what Meizu has planned for the competition and their first Android One device. Taking Meizu’s past devices into account, it seems like they’re worthy enough of pulling off an great device for their intended market.
