Earlier today, Sony officially launched PS4 firmware update 5.01. At the start of October, Sony launched the PS4 firmware update 5.0, which was a major update. It enabled features like 1080p 60 FPS streaming, updated accounts & family management feature, 5.1 and 7.1 audio support in PSVR and a whole lot of bug fixes. The new PS4 firmware update 5.01 is not that feature-rich compared to the update 5.0, as you can see from the version number.
The download size of the new update is 357MB. According to the patch notes, the new update “improves system performance”. Nothing else is mentioned in the patch notes. PS4 users worldwide should get the update automatically. To go online on the PlayStation Network, you will need to install this update. You can download the recovery version of this update here.
It seems like the 5.01 update fixes bugs and issues that were reported with the update 5.0. With updates like this rolling out often, Sony is keeping the PlayStation line of consoles software-wise healthy. For more, keep it set on GeeksULTD.
