Sony has had a great year with the new PS4 Slim and its big brother, the PS4 Pro. However, with the new Xbox One X coming up and Microsoft having many exclusive games releasing on the Xbox One console, Sony is in a tough spot. The PS4 only has Gran Turismo Sport coming up this holiday, as an exclusive. Microsoft also has Forza Motorsport 7 up their sleeve, which puts Sony in an even tougher spot.
However, that doesn’t mean Sony is out of the game, according to Michael Pachter, an analyst at Wedbush Securities. According to Pachter, to keep the popularity of the PS4 and PS4 Pro up, Sony will drop the price of both consoles, to $249 and $349 respectively in the Holiday season. If the price is reasonable, even though the console only has one exclusive title releasing this Holiday, people will still go for it.
Talking with GamingBolt, Pachter said:
“I don’t think Microsoft is all that competitive, Xbox One S is priced the same as the PS4, and I don’t think they are competitive at all with the Xbox One X, currently priced at $100 more than the PS4 Pro, and highly likely to be priced $150 more than the PS4 Pro by Holiday. My guess is, Sony will cut the everyday PS4 price to $249, and the PS4 Pro price to $349 this Holiday, and Microsoft will be too expensive, so Sony will keep its price advantage this Holiday.”

It seems like reducing the price of both of its consoles is a smart move for Sony. For more, stay tuned to GeeksULTD.
