Amazon has been among the top prime members in the smartphone game competing with Flipkart in India. Both websites often get the opportunity to offer the latest smartphones at an exclusivity for a limited time. For OnePlus, OnePlus has been opting to launch their smartphones first on Amazon for quite a while now. And the OnePlus 5 launch is no exception.
With the OnePlus 5 finally being confirmed on Amazon India’s webpage, users finally tried to dive in and take a look if they could find out more about the OnePlus 5 by skimming through Amazon’s OnePlus 5 source code. And they found it! So far, we’re assured that the OnePlus 5 is going to pack a Snapdragon 835 SoC, but what we weren’t assured of is the amount of RAM. The original source code obtained for Amazon’s webpage mentioned the OnePlus 5 to pack 8GB of RAM.
However, a few hours later, they were quick enough to remove it. The original source code read:
“OnePlus 5 powered by 2.35GHz octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor and 8GB of RAM will release on 22nd June”
Now it reads:
“OnePlus 5 powered by Snapdragon 835 processor will release on 22nd June, 2017 as an exclusive at Amazon.in”
Now why they removed the mention of 8GB of RAM will remain a mystery until the actual launch of the OnePlus 5. But it really feels disturbing that they removed the mention of the amount of RAM only. It seems like OnePlus could have more than one variant to launch or they still don’t want to reveal the amount of RAM yet. Well, done. That’s all we could say.
