A few days ago a fan project allowed a fan to run Nintendo’s The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild on PC.
The Nintendo Switch exclusive has definitely got a lot of attention with the launch of the Switch and is currently among the top sellers.
The Nintendo Switch has definitely been well received by most gamers. However, the new console from Nintendo really lacks in power as it relies on a custom Nvidia SoC to power everything. On the Nintendo Switch, The Legend of Zelda: The Breath Of The Wild runs at 720p natively, although docking it allows it to run in 900p.
However, running the game on the PC wasn’t impossible as the fan project proved so the user took it to Reddit to show off how amazing the game looks like in 4K, powered by Nvidia’s GTX 1080 Ti GPU. The 1080Ti is a monstrous GPU that could basically rip through many games at very high resolutions.
Here’s the screenshot which shows how the game would look in 4K resolution:

The game certainly looks sharp and impressive. It’s simply amazing to see what could have been achievable if the Switch was a bit more powerful and run the game at 1080p natively.

Damn Nintendo and their Switche’s antiquated hardware. If only they jammed one of the worlds most biggest and expensive full size PC GPU’s into it, it coulda been a competitive system.
Lol, hell if I get the time I might check it out (on my 1080p tv and gtx 970), save to say the game is as about as great as its gonna get on Switch. A rez bump won’t turn it into a more awesome game.
(Just like graphics isn’t doing much to improve Mass Effect Andromeda)
Have you seen how small the Switch is? You think someone would pay 600$ for a more powerfull Switch?
No, few people would, and a more powerful one would cripple the battery that so many already complain about.
It’s fine the way it is, I know this is aside this articles topic, but some devs need to get their heads out their arses (I’m Australian) and start designing better games instead of pouring millions into chasing bleeding edge visual tricks.
Like I said above (graphics isn’t saving ME-Andromeda from being a laughing stock, and 4K won’t turn ZeldaBOTW into anything much beyond what it is now, which is scoring higher the most top end PC games)
Docking it allows it to run in FullHD? Didn’t realize that 1600×900 was considered “full hd”.
