Apple’s Upcoming iPhones May Not Be iPhone 7 And iPhone 7 Plus

Upcoming iPhones to be called iPhone 6 SE and iPhone 6 SE Plus, not iPhone 7

Rumors about Apple’s upcoming iPhones are all over the place and here, we’re seeing yet another interesting rumor about it. A Chinese website uploaded the images of the retail box of the upcoming iPhones and they’re not called iPhone 7/7 Plus. Instead, according to the images, the upcoming iPhones from Apple are going to be called iPhone 6 SE and iPhone 6 SE Plus. These images are of the retail box of iPhone 6 SE. But we couldn’t confirm whether these images are real or not.

We highly doubt if these images are real or not. These images can be fake as this rumored name-change scheme doesn’t make sense. However, the source of the images also uploaded Geekbench scores of the iPhone 6 SE to prove that this is not fake. Apple has not said anything about this yet. So yeah, if Apple does launch the iPhone 6 SE and iPhone 6 SE Plus this year, then the iPhone 7 will probably arrive next year. This may hurt the sales of the upcoming iPhone as a majority of the fans are expecting the iPhone 7. Also, according to a German website, called Aplfelpage, Apple is doing this name-change because the upcoming iPhone looks quite similar to the current iPhone 6S and the upcoming phone is only different specs-wise.

Apple iPhone 6 SE Geekbench Scores and Comparison with iPhone 6S

iPhone 6 SE and iPhone 6 SE Plus

According to the leaked Geekbench scores, the iPhone 6 SE scored 5,210 points in single-core performance. For comparison, the iPhone 6S scores 4,400 points in the same task. During the multi-core test, the iPhone 6 SE scored 3,042 points and on the other hand, the iPhone 6S scores 2,500 points. If these results are true, then this is a hint at the fact that the iPhone 6 SE is faster than the iPhone 6S and it is powered by Apple’s A10 chipset. And yes, the Plus model will have slightly better specifications so it will have even higher Geekbench scores.

Apple iPhone 6 SE & iPhone 6 SE Plus Specifications

Talking about the specifications, the iPhone 6 SE (or iPhone 7) is going to be powered by Apple’s latest A10 chipset. It is also rumored to have an upgrade in RAM department with 3GB RAM. Surprisingly, there is no change in the screen resolution. Apple will go on with the same 5.5-inch Full-HD 1080p display for their upcoming iPhone.

The iPhone 6 SE Plus will be the premium variant and it is rumored to have dual-cameras on the back, just like LG G5 and Huawei P9.

Apple is expected to continue selling the current 6-series iPhones until the new ones are announced. The company will announce their upcoming phone in an event which is expected to happen in the first week of September. The official announcement by Apple about their next iPhone will bash all the fake rumors. Stay tuned to GeeksULTD for more on Apple’s upcoming smartphones.
