Xbox Scorpio Won’t Run Games at 4K Only, Devs Could Go For 1080p60 and “Upgraded Visuals”
At their E3 conference few weeks ago, Microsoft announced the Xbox Scorpio. According to Microsoft, the Xbox Scorpio is the most powerful console ever made; with 6TFLOPS of power. According to some reports, the Xbox Scorpio will feature AMD’s latest “Zen” and “Polaris” architectures. Also, the Xbox Scorpio will run some games better than the Xbox One. The Xbox Scorpio is powerful enough to handle games at 4K resolutions and provide immersive VR experience.
However, the Head of Xbox Division at Microsoft, Phil Spencer said that they’ll not make the Xbox Scorpio run every game at 4K mandatory. When Phil Spencer was asked about if developers go for 1080p and 60FPS with “massively upgraded visuals” instead of 4K, he replied:
We’ll talk more about this later, but we never said we’d mandate 4K frame buffer, we won’t.
At E3, Spencer said that he supports that the developers do what they want. So yes, we may see games that will run at 1080p resolution with 60FPS with improved visuals.
sure as heck better. I’d much rather have that extra power go towards that then 4k. Don’t really care all that much about 4k…..at least until I can get a 4k monitor for under 300
Its not like it’ll run 4K games well anyways.
